Nokia unveils handheld Internet tablet

The Nokia 770 Internet Tablet unveiled Wednesday is based on the open-source Linux operating system rather than the Symbian platform it uses for "smart" cell phones or the mobile version of Microsoft Corp.'s Windows. Nokia said it plans to publish the source code in hopes developers will write customized software for the device.

Priced at $350, the Internet Tablet is being positioned as an alternative to buying an extra personal computer or laptop for different rooms, providing a cheaper, quicker and less-cumbersome way to connect to the Web.

Sony PlayStation III

The configuration and the specs are more than up to the level of current PCs and the fact that the onboard graphic engine, the RSX, it should be more powerful than two SLIed Geforce 6800 Ultra speaks volume about the POWER inside the PS3....

DynamiX-Discuss is live!

Well everybody, this is my first post here, and I hope it's useful. :-)

We have an alternative to the blog now for private intra-club communications. I've created the dynamix-discuss mailing list on the school server. For those of you new to the concept, a mailing list is a piece of software that runs on the server and keeps track of a list of email addresses. Whenever it receives a message, it forwards it to all its members. We've got this particular list set up so that requests to join the list have to be approved by an administrator (me) before taking effect, so we can restrict participation to DynamiX club members. You can send a message to the mailing list, and reasonably expect that only club members can read it.

The rest of this blog post contains details for joining and using the mailing list, so read it carefully. I'll be writing email addresses as user 'at' domain.com to thwart spambots, so replace 'at' with the @ symbol.

First, to subscribe to the list, send an email with the body:
subscribe dynamix-discuss
end
to the email address majordomo 'at' ramjasrkp.com. Remember to send the message as plain text with no fancy formatting (you know who you are ;-) After your request is approved, you will receive a message welcoming you to the mailing list. Read it carefully and keep it for future reference.

After that, you can send email to the users of the mailing list by addressing it to dynamix-discuss 'at' ramjasrkp.com. Majordomo (the mailing list software), is quite fast so everybody will probably get the message in a few seconds. All messages received through the list will have [dynamix-discuss] at the beginning of the subject line.

Now something to be careful of: if you reply to a message you got through the list, you will be replying only to the person who sent the message. If you want to reply to the whole list, send your message to the aforementioned dynamix-discuss 'at' ramjasrkp.com address.

And finally, if you want to unsubscribe (traitor!!) send a message with the body
unsubscribe dynamix-discuss
end
to majordomo 'at' ramjasrkp.com.

That's all there is to it. Since this is new and untested, expect some minor glitches in the beginning. The more you use the mailing list, the faster they'll be sorted out. So have at it!

Enjoy this!

My dear friends,
Nice to meet you again this summer. Shashank my email ID is sanchit.gulati@gmail.com
Saabka_Baap Pls forgive me for your fault(s).

Enjoy this lyrics :

Fear Of The Dark
Steve Harris

I am a man who walks alone
And when I'm walking a dark road
At night or strolling through the park

When the light begins to change
I sometimes feel a little strange
A little anxious when it's dark

Fear of the dark, fear of the dark
I have constant fear that something's
always near
Fear of the dark, fear of the dark
I have a phobia that someone's
always there

Have you run your fingers down
the wall
And have you felt your neck skin crawl
When you're searching for the light?
Sometimes when you're scared
to take a look
At the corner of the room
You've sensed that something's
watching you

Have you ever been alone at night
Thought you heard footsteps behind
And turned around and no one's there?
And as you quicken up your pace
You find it hard to look again
Because you're sure there's
someone there

Watching horror films the night before
Debating witches and folklores
The unknown troubles on your mind
Maybe your mind is playing tricks
You sense, and suddenly eyes fix
On dancing shadows from behind

Fear of the dark, fear of the dark
I have constant fear that something's
always near
Fear of the dark, fear of the dark
I have a phobia that someone's
always there

When I'm walking a dark road
I am a man who walks alone

If you have read all the data given above
Then your jerk just like "Saabka_Baap".

DynamiX 2005 ermm.. Reloaded

Funny name, yet it is time that we began to start discussing and working on our second event, which I hope shall be successful.. better than last time at least. I had shot off a mail to a couple of people regarding the event plan, and it is to be kept in utmost secrecy. The plan is a rather new one since I've never heard of any computer events being wrapped in such a wrapper. Roshan was my early fellow-conspirator, and we've had a long discussion on it around Final exams' time. So I would request all the respective departments to put on the thinking cap. People who had handled departments such as Crossword, Quiz and stuff are welcome to handle them again. Since we do have a lot of time, as it'll be best to aim for around first week of August or last week of July as the oppurtune time, we can afford to put more responsibility on the new members.

Since I do not have Sanchit's email, I had hoped that the message would reach through Benjamin. And now would also be a great time to give the students a taste of competition, by organizing an Intra-school event, not neccesarily for Gaming (FragFest), but covering other areas too. How about first week of June? What do you have to say. I would also like the newcomers to lend their opinion finally on some important topic.. can't blame them since the blog has been lying cold for some time.

As for TechEd, the online edition shall be online in a couple of days.. atleast the test versions.

And I would like to officially welcome Sanchit to the blog.

PS: Nobody discusses the details of the event or the event plan on the blog. Small details like schedule etc are fine, but not the event. Even schedule could give it all away.. the blog is a public place. I will look for a private place to discuss if neccessary.

Santa and Banta work in a software company. One
day, they were to move their m/cs to another
building. Banta was having a tough timecarrying
his machine. Santa : "My m/c has 500 MB disk.
See how easily I am carrying it. Yours has just
250 MB. Can't you carry even this much?" Banta :
"But yours is empty and my disk is full"!!!

Online UT anyone?

Anyone game for an online UT match? Since its not really easy to get a school workshop organized just for gaming. Who all are on dial-ups?

I'm game for it.. just as soon as I replace the batteries of my mouse. Quite low really.

But, I don't know if it can be done so easily. Tell me, how many people can each one of you contact if we are to announce & organize FragFest during the vacations? FragFest and a couple of other intra-school events.

1500 Microsoft Bloggers Can Keep A Secret But Gates Can't

Microsoft has a secret. They know when the next Xbox is shipping. Surely a handful or more of Microsoft's 1500 bloggers have this information tucked away inside their big brains.Still, they were able to keep it close to the vest. So imagine my surprise when I read that the greatest PR gaffe at Microsoft this week was committed by Bill Gates and not Microsoft's bloggers. He slipped up and accidentally revealed when the next Xbox will ship during a conference. Ironically, in the same speech, Bill had this to say about Microsoft's bloggers... "I'd say overwhelmingly it's good. It does raise lots of questions. ... Now you have thousands of spokespeople and being off the cuff is part of the whole charm of the thing." BusinessWeek has more quotes from Gates on blogging and why he doesn't blog - yet.
