The present layout of the DynamiX Website is perfect, and needs no change. Thank you for your concern.

He was just suggesting something Ayush, not asking that you do it necessarily. And even though you may not mean it, yet your reply sounds a bit...rude, watsay?

1) The Dynamix Website, as it is now, is perfect, rather excellent, and does not require any modifications.
2) Even I could sense some frustations reflected out here in the language, but its quite natural when some-one, inspite of such a beautiful work, gets a non-expected feedback.
3) Sanchit & Prashanth, the recent posts by you two has used such a language, which I call *un-professional*. There is something serious business on this blog. Therefore, I request you two to change your writing style on this blog.

Regards

I would like to clarify this unpleasant mess, which my comment initiated. I, in no way, was trying to be rude, not even close to it, actually. As it is, the present layout is pretty recent, and its too soon to actually bring any *changes* in it. Ofcourse, the new webmaster/webmistress may want to make some, if needed.

install drupal, and yes your website needs to upgrade.

the thing is Why host Wiki, Dynamix site and ur blog in 3 different places?

"IF" you need to do something unique go for drupal, and start using it for dynamix.

and dont host dynamix in 3 different places, make sub-categories for it.

1) The Blog is hosted on the Blogger server, and I think Blogger's service is the best out there. Yes, I know we can re-host it using Blogger technology on our server. Maybe a Union of them all could be the first project our new team undertakes.

2) The Wiki, hmm.. I started it, but I find it not of much use unless we actually work out the departments. The time when we were kick-starting departments, DX-RSP came up, and then exams. I don't find much use of continuing the Wiki unless the next team seriously takes the department idea to working level. The idea is to form semi-autonomous specialized departments (Programming, Web D, Quiz etc) for maximizing performance. This shall mean that DX is an umbrella, comprising of the team/dept heads and a few decision making people (Core group). I have explained Depts in some previous mail, search your ids. Or search this blog.

3) The DX site. Ayush, Fresh Blood always shake up existing things, which is a healthy thing to do. I admire the simplicity and excellent design of the DX site (We recruited you after seeing your talent in excellent WebD after all! :-D ), but I suggest that if the new team can design another layout, let them. I do not ask you to immediately remove the site. Let the new team divide the tasks among itself, and allot some person(s) the task of WebD. The new team has full freedom to recruit anyone right now, and the new team is everyone who isn't graduating this year. Let the new Web Designers take help from all of us, design an excellent new site, and we'll put it up. And lets preserve all the old versions/designs of the DX site in something called DX-Archive.

We don't NEED a new design because its bad. Far from it! We need a new design because its simply a case of letting the new team take over and get experience in maintaining web-sites. Also, it marks the end of one group and the beginning of another era, to be a bit poetic. :-D

Sanchit & Sid, could you talk to all those who can come online and organize an online meeting? 23rd, most of us are going to be busy scribbling on each other's shirts, hence an online meeting is all that's possible.

drupal is good...but to maintain it is a pain in the neck..yes, not a problem if you love sitting and wasting time on your pcs. It took me 2 days for it to run perfectly on IIS4..Blogger is indeed good, but have you looked at the option of SFTP in publishing options, which publishes it to your servers via a 256-bit AE encrypted connection. So I actually think the idea of having a site like, dynamix.ramjasrkp.com would be great! Also, only the posts and images are saved onto your server when you use SFTP, comments are still on Blogger.com's storage. Otherwise if you really wan't to have the most customizable blog, try WordPress, which you can upload for free on your server...Definitely less painful than Drupal..you might want to test blogsome.com to get what wordpress feels like..

@frankzz_sword:no offence but r u being paid by drupal to advertise on blogs???

lol ofcourse not,

actually Drupal isnt pain in the neck, its the best thing to use for any kind of websites. But you wont know unless and untill u start using it.

Wiki is good but only if its for public, if u remove that "EDIT" option for public its simply another CMS like drupal and in that case drupal wins.

as for BLOGS, this has been a tradition for all computer clans, I dont know what good they find in google blogs, I had clan of 4 members and I had to discuss strategies and all the stuff so I had up a forum, The thing is its not bout showing up which most clans do, posting technology stuff and all. Its bout winning which nobody gives a dam about I believe (INSIDE INTERNET).

as for postings, I wouldnt go against any of the clans cuz its their site.
