Its quite simple humour. Some simple-minded idiot is told that if they type their password, then we all see it as ****. That's a lie, since the system couldn't figure out what's the pass & what's just text. So its a trick to get the password. And then he says like: Mr. X, I don't know that your password is hunter2. :-)
Take it as a PJ if you must. Geek-Joke.
